THE WOOD RIVER SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT!
The Wood River Soil and Water Conservation District is an organized arm of state government to asssit local land owners in using best management practices of their resources.
They make avaialable the services of several federal and state agencies. The main agency the conservation districts work with is the Natural Resource Conservation Service, a federal agency under the department of Agriculture.
The Conservation Districts are also involved in public out reach, sponsoring urban water user's workhsops, landscaping workshops, Envirothon (a high school science competition), Speech Contests, County wide trees sales - promoting native and drought tolerant varieties, youth conservation days, Bug Crew, local news letters and facebook page: wood-river-soil-and-water-conservation-district\

The Wood River SWCD held a drawing at the local Lincoln County Fair. We were demonstrating windbreaks, shelterbelts and snowfences, so we wanted to give away a gallon potted tree to start the process.
